Freelancer was a 2003 game by Digital Anvil and a ‘spiritual’ successor to their StarLancer space combat game released in 2000. It was initially developed by a team led by Wing Commander creator, Chris Roberts. Freelancer is space trading and exploration style game in the spirit of Wing Commander Privateer, and includes an epic single-player story whose dialogue script is featured here. In contrast with much of the Wing Commander series, the story-line in Freelancer is linear, with only choices being available for the timing of when missions are ultimately accepted. All missions are assumed to be accepted the first time to maintain the flow of the dialogue, and only the final released version of the dialogue is provided – lines that were ultimately cut from the game are not given, but can easily be found as standard MP3s, labelled as WAVs, in the Freelancer/Data/Audio/Dialogue/ directory.
